KWC sweeps Pumas on Sunday

Kentucky Wesleyan baseball swept Saint Joseph’s by identical 4-2 scores in Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Sunday afternoon at Rensselaer, Ind.
 
Luis Mila put the Panthers on the scoreboard first with a RBI double in the second. Nathan Hedgepath added a RBI single in the fourth for a 2-0 advantage.
 
The Pumas scored one in the bottom of the fourth.
 
Mila added another RBI double and scored on a wild pitch in the sixth for the 4-1 tally. Saint Joseph’s closed the game with a run in the bottom of the seventh.
 
Tyler Edge earned his third win of the season by pitching four innings giving up four hits and four runs and striking out four.
 
Jon Wandling received his first save entering the game with a 2-1 lead. He tossed the final three frames with two hits and fanning three.
 
In the closer, the Pumas jumped out to a 1-0 score in the first before KWC responded.
 
Jordan White and Mila each produced a RBI single in the fourth to take the lead for good at 2-1. Max Aubrey smacked a two-run homer in the fifth for the 4-1 margin.
 
The Pumas closed the seventh with one run.
 
Drew Watts went the distance to collect his third win with four hits, three walks, two runs and one strikeout in seven innings.   

Aubrey went three-for-four at the plate while Wandling and White were two-for-three.
 
The Panthers (17-18, 12-19 GLVC) close the season by hosting Indianapolis in a four-game series on Saturday, May 5, and Sunday, May 6, at Panther Park. First pitch will be noon both days.
