Kentucky Wesleyan closed the season with a 4-3 and 14-7 loss to Indianapolis at Panther Park on Sunday afternoon.
In the opener, Indianapolis jumped out to a 3-0 margin in the third and added one in the fourth. Max Aubrey responded in the fifth with a RBI single to cut the margin to 4-1.
Jordan White smacked a two-run homer in the ninth to fuel a short-lived rally before the final outcome. Josh Vance and White both went two-for-four at the plate.
Jon Wandling received the loss throwing six innings with four strikeouts and four runs. Noah Boswell closed the seventh with one strikeout.
In the nightcap, White went three-for-five including a double with one RBI as he broke the school record for hits with 75. Luis Mila drove in four of the Panthers seven runs.
The Greyhounds opened the first with one run before Mila knocked in two in the bottom frame for a 2-1 KWC lead. UIndy scored one in the fourth and two in the fifth.
Sean Embry, White and Mark Hagedorn each drove in a run in the fifth for KWC’s 5-4 advantage. The Greyhounds grabbed back the lead with two in the sixth.
Mila added another RBI single in the seventh to tie the contest at 6-6. Following a 30-minute lighting delay, the Greyounds exploded for five runs in the eighth and three in the ninth to extend their total to 14.
Mila drove in the Panthers final run on a sacrifice hit. White was three-for-five at the plate and Josh Vance recorded a double and triple in three at bats.
Drew Watts threw six innings giving up seven hits and six runs in the loss. Wes Ward, Boswell and Tyler Emberton finished the final three frames.
KWC finished 19-30 overall and 13-22 in the GLVC.
