CEDARVILLE, Ohio - It took more than 100 years for a special Yellow Jacket baseball record to be set and Michael Roe had the honor of achieving it thus earning No. 7 on CU’s Top 10 in 2011-12.

It’s documented that Cedarville first fielded a baseball team late in the 19th century and no pitcher had ever won 10 games in a season. Roe, a junior righthander from Middletown, Ohio, rolled to a 10-0 mark in 2012 with a 2.45 ERA.

Roe’s performance topped the nine wins that Norris Smith established in 1963. Smith and fellow CU Hall of Famer Charlie Wilkins formed the club’s two-man rotation when the Jackets went 16-2.

Roe made 14 appearances this spring with 11 starts and five complete games during CU’s 38-13 campaign. He also had one shutout and a save.

Roe tied the record of nine wins with a 4-2 decision at Spring Arbor (Mich.) in the first game of the NCCAA Midwest Regional three-game final series. He set the single-season mark by going six innings and getting a 5-4 win over Emmanuel to open the NCCAA National Tournament in Mason, Ohio.
