Weekly Cross Country Award Winners

INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest Athletic Conference has released its Men's and Women's Cross Country Runners of the Week. Matt Brooker and Alexandra Archambault, both of Cedarville University, guided their teams to impressive finishes at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational this past weekend.

Going on four straight weeks, Matt Brooker has been named the men’s cross country runner of the week, following his individual win at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational that featured 182 runners.

His time of 24:40.2 in the 8,000 meter race is the second fastest time of the season in conference, only a second and a half behind his own top time of 24:38.9.

Brooker also led the Yellow Jackets, who were recently ranked #14 in the nation (NCAA Division II), to the team’s third victory in five races. In four races this season, Brooker has two first place finishes, a second, and a fourth, while also finishing first among his teammates in each of the four races.

Alexandra Archambault

For the third-straight week and fourth time this year, Alex Archambault has been named women’s cross country runner of the week. Archambault finished 11th overall at the Wisconsin-Parkside Invitational, which featured 189 total runners.

Her time of 18:29.8 in the 5,000 meter race was her second best time of the season and is also the second best time run by any runner in conference. Archambault now owns four of the top six individual times in the 5K.

She helped guide her team to a sixth place finish among the 18 teams running, as she has now finished first among her teammates in all four of her races, including two individual first place finishes.
