Great Midwest Indoor Track & Field Weekend Preview

INDIANAPOLIS -- Indoor track and field action continues this week as multiple Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) programs compete across Ohio and Michigan. A total of nine G-MAC schools will be in action Friday and Saturday, each looking to build momentum as the season progresses. 

Five G-MAC schools will compete at Al Campbell Invitational 
Lake Erie, Hillsdale, Ashland, Walsh, and Ursuline will travel to Akron on Friday to compete in the Al Campbell Invitational. For several programs, this will mark their first competition since the holiday break. 
Hillsdale freshman Anna Roessner returns to action after setting a G-MAC record in the 60-meter dash earlier this season, clocking a time of 7.36 seconds. Other notable athletes competing include Joel Brown (Walsh), Jade Avance (Ashland), Allison Kuzma (Hillsdale), and Tara Townsend (Hillsdale). 

Other Programs in Action
Northwood heads to Michigan on Friday to compete in the SVSU Classic. The Timberwolves last competed at the SVSU Holiday Open on December 5, making this their second meet of the season.
Notable performances from that meet included:
  • Diogo Vaz (So.) ran a 200-meter time of 22.05.
  • Logan Roka (Jr.) cruised through the 800-meter with a time of 1:53.84.
  • Breanna Hyde (Jr.) put up a mark of 5.39-meter in the long jump for Northwood.
Defending G-MAC champion Tiffin will compete Friday at the Larry Brown Invitational. Under head coach Mark Del Monaco, the Dragons aim to continue their strong start to the season. The last time the Dragons were in action was on December 13 at the Tiffin University Alumni Open.
Notable Performances from the Tiffin University Alumni Open included:
  • Audrey Sanzone (Sr.) finished the mile with a time of 5:27.89.
  • Gabe Douce (So.) competed in the 3000-meter and finished with a time of 8:33.53.
  • Reggie Rogers (Jr.) put up an impressive 7.31-meter mark in the men's long jump.
Findlay will compete at home on Friday in the Findlay Alumni Open. The Oilers consistently send athletes to the national championship and will look for a strong opening performance in 2026.
Recent Highlights included:
  • K.J. Upshaw (Sr.) crushed the 2025 Oiler Opener & Multi on December 5 with a 60-meter time of 6.80.
  • Leah Smith (Jr.) ran a 7.46 in the women’s 60-meter.
  • Gloria Mengolo (So.) competed in the hurdles at the 2025 Oiler Opener and posted a time of 8.73.
Ohio Dominican will be the lone G-MAC program to compete on Saturday at the Muskie Meet. The Panthers last competed on December 5, where 18 athletes accomplished personal bests across nine different events. 
Top performances included:
  • Virtner Crews (Jr.) ran a 6.80 60-meter sprint.
  • Peyton Proffitt (Sr.) vaulted her way to a respectable mark of 12 feet, 1.5 inches.
  • Anna Blackstone (Jr.) one of Ohio Dominican's mile runners put up a time of 5:56.89.
