HILLSDALE, Mich. — The Hillsdale College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosted its sixth annual Trunk-or-Treat on Sunday, Oct. 26. Hillsdale College athletic teams, clubs, dorms, fraternities, and sororities set up booths with candy and games, allowing children in the local community to go trick-or-treating safely.

“This free event is part of our mission to connect college students and the athletic department with ways to give back to our community,” said Nikki Walbright, faculty advisor of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. “We appreciate the students and community members who helped make this year’s Trunk-or-Treat a success.”

Hillsdale College students representing 23 campus groups handed out candy and coordinated games at sports-themed trick-or-treat stations. The committee accepted candy donations throughout the week in addition to candy provided by each participating group.

Cottage Inn Pizza, this year’s official sponsor of Charlie’s Kids Club, also had a trunk at the event.

“It was really nice to have a community member participate with us,” Walbright said. “This was far and away our most attended Trunk-or-Treat to date. We had nearly 1,000 people come over the course of the two hours.”

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee hosts the event as a fundraiser for Make-a-Wish, the official NCAA philanthropy for Division II athletics.
