INDIANAPOLIS – A new season is underway as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Athlete of the Week started with Hillsdale earning the first selection for 2021-22.
 
Ashland opened with the league’s first competition back on Sep. 17 at the CSCAA Open Water Championships in Lawrence, Kan., while Findlay, Malone and Ursuline, will debut later this month.

Now back-to-back conference champions, the Chargers debuted the new season with a dual win as a team over Indiana Wesleyan.
 
Taylor has been an instrumental part of Hillsdale’s title runs while earning first team all-conference honors in four different events last season (50, 100 freestyle; 400, 800 freestyle relay).
 
Taylor won by almost three seconds in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 54.76 and touched the wall first in the 50 freestyle with a time of 25.15. Hillsdale scored 125 points to IWU’s 78.
 
Hillsdale is idle this week before returning to the water on Oct. 16 at Malone for a combined conference relay meet with the Mountain East.
