Carsyn (Koch) Johnson is one of the most accomplished athletes in Cedarville University athletics history. The cross country and track runner set records at Cedarville and in the Great Midwest that are still held today. During Carsyn’s freshman year, she earned Great Midwest First-Team in cross country by placing 4th in the 6K and then went on to finish 48th out of 211 runners at the NCAA DII Midwest Regionals. She continued her stellar freshman year with a phenomenal campaign on the track. Carsyn earned first-team for the Great Midwest in both indoor and outdoor track. She was the outdoor Freshman of the Year and was on the Great Midwest Freshman team for both indoor and outdoor track. Carsyn earned USTFCCCA DII All-Region team in the 400, 800, and 1500 and was on the USTFCCCA DII Outdoor All-American First Team. She was also a USTFCCCA DII All-Academic in both cross country and track.

Carsyn began her sophomore year with another phenomenal cross country season. She finished 25th out of 224 runners in the NCAA DII Midwest Regional in the 6K, and was named to the USTFCCCA DII All-Region Team. Carsyn was the NCAA DII National Champion in both the indoor and the outdoor 800, setting the DII outdoor record.  Carsyn earned Great Midwest Indoor First Team with wins in the 400 and 800, was the Great Midwest Female Athlete of the Year, the Cedarville University Female Athlete of the Year, and earned Great Midwest Academic Team. She earned First Team USTFCCCA DII All-American First Team as well as the USTFCCCA DII All Academic Team. She was the first undergraduate in Cedarville’s history to qualify to run in the US Olympic Trials finishing 5th in her 800m heat.

As the cross country captain Carsyn’s junior year, she led her team to an 11th place finish at the NCAA DII National Championship. Carsyn was the runner-up at the Great Midwest Championship, earned Great Midwest First Team and USTFCCCA DII All-Region Team, while leading her team to a 2nd place finish at the Midwest Regionals. She repeated as the NCAA DII indoor 800 champion and earned the USTFCCCA Midwest Region Indoor Track Athlete of the Year. Carsyn continued her winning ways, repeating as the NCAA DII Outdoor Champion in the 800 and qualified for the USATF Championships in the 1500. She repeated as the Great Midwest and Cedarville University Female Athlete of the Year, earned USTFCCCA DII Midwest Region Outdoor Track Athlete of the Year, was a CoSIDA Academic All-American, earned USTFCCCA DII All-Academic, and earned Great Midwest Academic team again.
