Brashears, a freshman from Springfield, Ohio, earned the G-MAC Field Athlete of the Week distinction after recording a second-place finish in the long jump at Otterbein University on Friday evening. Brashears' leap of 21' 10" (6.65 meters) is the top long jump performance in the G-MAC so far this year and ranks as the fourth-best performance in the conference's history.
In addition to his impressive mark in the long jump, Brashears also helped Malone's 4 x 100-meter relay team collect a fifth-place finish. The freshman teamed with Desmond Sallee, Orlando Scott and Daniel Brown, to clock a time of 43.85 seconds.
