Blake Rogers, the conference’s first-ever Offensive Athlete of the Week has earned the honor for the second time this season, both times he has earned the honor alongside teammate Connor Haddock (Pitching AOTW). Rogers led the Trojans to a doubleheader sweep of Cedarville, giving the Trojans their first two conference wins (2-0 in conference) and taking control of the conference standings from the Yellow Jackets (2-3 in conference).
In the doubleheader, Rogers went 4-8 (.500) with a walk, three runs scored, two driven in, and totaled eight bases with two stolen bases. In game one, a 4-2 win, Rogers was 1-2 with a walk, but his one hit was a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning (seven inning contest) giving the Trojans a 3-1 lead, which proved to be the insurance run the team needed.
In the second game, Rogers was 3-6 at the plate with a double and a stolen base in 6-5 win in 12-innings. He scored twice and drove in a run. His run was TNU’s first of the game in the fourth inning as the team trailed 3-0. In the bottom of the seventh (nine inning contest), Rogers RBI-single gave the Trojans a 5-4 lead, which they held until the top of the ninth when Cedarville scored and sent the game to extras.
In the 12th inning, Rogers reached on a fielder’s choice, but advanced to second on a single, then stole third base and scored on a game-winning single by teammate Tyler Tichenor.
On the season, Rogers is sixth in the conference with a .341 batting average, however his 30 hits rank third, while he is second with 25 RBI, tied for the conference lead with a pair of triples, and is third with 43 total bases.
