Alderson Broaddus freshman defender Meredith Wilson was named the sixth Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Lacrosse Athlete of the Week for the 2016 season on Monday.
The Battlers continued to hover above the .500 mark with a weekly split vs. Wheeling Jesuit (L) and Montevallo (W). At 6-5 overall, Alderson Broaddus added another conference weekly honor to its credit while continuing to improve as a program.
As a defender, Wilson’s contributions can tend to fly under the radar, much like in the sport of soccer.
She still managed to score a combined seven goals, record a pair of assists and seven ground balls and six draw controls in the two games.
Alderson Broaddus scored a season-high 20 goals vs. Montevallo and permitted just four to the Falcons.
She has started eight of the Battlers’ 11 total games this spring.
