Zimmy Nwogbo has been named the season’s first G-MAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week following his outstanding performance in the Yellow Jackets opening weekend.
In the team’s season opener, a double-overtime loss to Holy Family, Nwogbo scored a team-high 23 points on 8-15 shooting and 7-10 from the free throw line. He also pulled down a game-high 21 rebounds (10 offensive and 11 defensive).
His 11 defensive rebounds alone matched the second best rebounding total in the game. The next night, Cedarville dropped a high-scoring affair with the #1 team in the nation, falling 105-92 to West Liberty. Nwogbo scored a career-high and game-high 29 points on 13-17 shooting and making all three of his attempts from the charity stripe. He grabbed six rebounds and added a game-high four steals.
