Kristen Heydt has been named the Great Midwest Athletic Conferences Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week after a big week of conference action.
In three G-MAC victories by the Lady Jackets over Alderson Broaddus, Davis & Elkins, and Kentucky Wesleyan, Heydt went 3-0 at the number four singles position and 3-0 in number two doubles. Against the Senators, Heydt lost the first set 6-3, but rallied to win the next two sets 6-1 and take the match in a tight 6-3 win by Cedarville over the defending conference champions.
In doubles, Heydt teamed up with Maryssa Herbert - last week’s G-MAC women’s tennis athlete of the week, to win all three matches, including a tight 8-5 win over Davis & Elkins securing the Lady Jackets win as the score was 4-3 after the results of six singles and the number one doubles match.
Heydt moved to 7-6 on the season in singles, improving to 6-3 at the number four spot. She also moved back to .500 in doubles at 8-8, including a 6-4 record at number two doubles.
