Carsyn Koch has been named the Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week, earning the conference first outdoor honor of the season, coming at the Emory Invitational.
Koch, who was the G-MAC Indoor Track and Field champion in the 800m race and the high jump, began the outdoor portion of the season with a first place finish in the 800m race at the Emory Invitational. Her time of 2:09.49 was just 0.3 seconds off the Cedarville record, set way back in 1986.
With the win and the impressive time, Koch hit the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time standard in her first attempt. She is just 1.49 seconds off the Automatic qualifying time of 2:08.00.
Her weekend wasn’t done after the 800, she teamed up in the relays to help Cedarville capture a first place finish in the 4x800. Their time of 9:04.08 broke a school record by an impressive 7.38 seconds. She also ran in the 4x400 relay, as the team finished second.
