Caroline Hampton of Trevecca University has been named the G-MAC’s Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week after a sterling collegiate debut for the Trojans in their fall opener at the Queen City Invitational in Mason, Ohio.
Hampton was 17th overall in a deep field at the 5K event with several NCAA Division I schools in attendance as Trevecca placed sixth out of 20 in the final team standings. A total of 185 runners competed in the event.
As a team, outside of the University of Indianapolis, Trevecca topped non-Division I schools competing as Hampton had a pace of six minutes and 14 seconds per mile.
Her impressive time of 19:20.77 was on the verge of breaking into the conference’s top-10 individual performances since 2012.
