Zach Bradfield has been named the G-MAC’s Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season closing out the season for the Senators against one of the conference top opponents in Kentucky Wesleyan, as D&E went 3-1 against the Panthers this weekend.

Highlighting the weekend of action was Bradfield’s performance in which he tied a single-game record in the G-MAC with 14 strikeouts in a 5-0 complete game shutout in game one of the four-game set. The 14 strikeouts are a season-high in the conference and tie the record set last season by Cedarville’s Ryan Ledbetter, which came against Salem International.

In the game, Bradfield went nine innings, allowing just four hits in the shutout performance. His command was on point as he walked just one batter and did hit another. In the first inning, he did not record a strikeout against KWC. After a leadoff single in the second, he struck out the next two before retiring the side. He posted a strikeout in the third and two in the fourth, before striking out the side in the fifth. He added another in the sixth, two in the seventh and eighth innings, and with a runner in scoring position ended the game with his 14th strikeout and holding the shutout intact.

For Bradfield it was his first shutout of the season and his second complete game in a row. The last two contests are also his only two wins of the season as he combined to go 18 innings allowing nine hits and three runs, while striking out 21 hitters.
