Schaub made his final meet going into the conference championships count with a provisional time clocked at the GVSU Extra Weekend Meet.
Already armed with the new conference 5K record set at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays earlier this spring, the Pioneers’ standout marched his way into the conference top 10’s in the 3K steeplechase.
Schaub finished the event in 8:57.89 up in Allendale, home of the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships, to win by almost four seconds over a pair of GVSU runners with provisional times as well.
Schaub is now fourth in the conference records and will be chasing the outdoor conference record, if entered, set by Walsh’s Jacob Kernell in 2019. The overall conference record holder is former Cedarville national champion Daniel Michalski.
This is Schaub’s second outdoor weekly honor of the current season.
