This spring, three different individuals from the Great Midwest have recorded provisional times in the 5K while aiming for nationals, Malone’s Noah Schaub, Findlay’s Noah Fisher and Walsh’s Caniford.
Caniford made his mark at the Hillsdale “GINA” Relays over the weekend as he was the top collegiate finisher in the event with Fisher.
It was a photo finish between the Walsh senior and Findlay freshman as Caniford recorded the third-fastest time in conference history with a 14:29.89.
A total of 60 outdoor track and field athletes have recorded provisional qualifying times in the 5K so far in the 2021 season. It was just the second time this season Caniford ran the 5K after also competing at the Yellow Jacket College Invitational right after the indoor conference meet.
