Entering into the last week of regular season competition, Walsh has claimed its spot as one of the top teams in the conference. The Cavaliers are on a seven-game win streak, including three wins last week.

Mayci Sales’ solid numbers in last week’s games earned her Player of the Week honors for the second time this season. The last time Sales was awarded weekly honors, she was also named the national player of the week.

Walsh started the week with an 89-72 win at Lake Erie. Sales narrowly missed a double-double with 21 points and nine rebounds in only 22 minutes of play. The senior also added four assists, two blocks and two steals to her stat line. She was 7-of-16 from the field and a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line.

On Thursday, Walsh traveled to Cedarville where the Cavaliers picked up a crucial win, 81-79, as Cedarville had defeated Walsh in the first match-up of the season. The game came down to the wire, with Sales feeding the ball to teammate Sha Carter for a layup in the final seconds of the game.

Sales nearly matched her numbers from earlier in the week, with 20 points and nine boards. She also added five assists, two steals and one block.

The Cavaliers wrapped up the week with a 72-62 win at Tiffin. Sales once again led the team in scoring with 18 points on 67 percent shooting (8-of-12). The forward tallied seven rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block.

Sales sits third in the conference in both points (19.1 ppg) and rebounds (9.7 rpg) and second in blocks with 25 on the season (1.5 per game).
