It was a clean sweep for the Malone senior standout during the outdoor season as men’s track athlete of the meet at the conference championship meet in Cedarville and track athlete of the year as decided by the league’s coaches.
Schaub has ridden the coattails of his indoor success to a very strong start in the outdoor segment as he set a new conference record in the 5K run.
Schaub debuted at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin and finished fourth in a strong field predominantly consisting of Division I competitors.
He ran a 14:17.60 in the event, about five seconds faster than the pace previously held by Davis & Elkins’ Emeric Arnaud set at the 2019 Duke Invitational.
Among all provisional qualifiers in Division II, Schaub currently ranks ninth.
