Gabby Stare has been making her name known throughout the league this year, as the freshman averages 16 ppg, scoring the ball from just about anywhere on the court.
This week was no different as Stare poured in a career-high 37 points in an 88-82 win over Findlay. She was 14-of-21 from the field, including 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. Stare also contributed nine rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win.
The freshman’s 37-point game is the highest scoring game so far this year in the Great Midwest and ties for fifth best in conference history.
Stare continued her sharp shooting into Saturday, scoring 15 points on 6-of-13 shooting, including three makes from deep.
Stare also grabbed five rebounds and had one block as ODU defeated Hillsdale on the road, 87-80.
The Panthers boast the second highest scoring offense in the league, as three players rank in the top 10 for scoring. Angela Troyer is averaging 20.5 ppg and Kennedy Schlabach is averaging 20.0 ppg to rank second and fourth in scoring, while Stare ranks eighth.
Stare also leads the league in 3-point field goal percentage at .490 and sits fifth in overall field goal percentage at .517.
This marks Stare’s first Great Midwest Player of the Week honors. This is the second time this season a Panther has earned the title, as Troyer was named conference Player of the Week on December 21.
