Stein was golden, not once, but twice in as many games as the Cavaliers stymied Lake Erie and defeated Ohio Valley in extra time over the past week of competition.
Walsh overcame a game-tying goal from the Storm’s Carly Kandel in the first half and had a significant advantage in the shot department, 36-4. Lake Erie’s defense didn’t give in and forced a second overtime session.
Stein, playing in a reserve role, broke through in the 108th minute for the game winner, assisted on a feed from Madalyn Canter. There was less than two minutes on the clock before the tie would have been declared.
It was her only shot of the contest.
Fast forward to the weekend against the Fighting Scots, a program that was handed its first league loss by the Cavaliers. The freshman delivered once again, this time the 91st minute to cap a memorable week.
Walsh had an 11-6 edge in total shots and Stein was credited with two of them.
