Kelsey Chapman has been named the Softball Offensive Athlete of the Week, just a week after being named G-MAC Softball Pitcher of the Week. Chapman earned this week’s honor after producing a stellar week at the plate, even in the pitching circle for the Lady Jackets.
As the Lady Jackets concluded its spring break trip, Chapman helped guide the team to a 9-2 week of action and a 12-3 overall record in Florida on spring break.
Chapman batted .382 with a team-high 13 hits, five doubles, a triple, ten runs batted in, eight runs scored, and 20 total bases. In conference, her 13 hits, eight runs scored, 10 RBI, five doubles, one triple, 20 total bases, and two sacrifice flies all tied for the lead or led the conference over the last week.
Her contribution didn’t only apply to her offensive performance, as Chapman pitched 14 shutout innings, striking out 15 batters and securing two wins. Hitters posted only a .163 batting average against Chapman, ranking second among the pitchers this past week.
