The Lakers passed their season-opening test with flying colors against a tough Molloy program that had defeated fellow associate member Wheeling and was receiving votes in the USILA Poll.

Credit goes to Pellicano in net as he made 12 saves in his Mercyhurst debut.

After giving up his fourth goal on the day with 8:21 remaining in the second period, Pellicano stoned the Molloy offense and didn’t allow another marker until there was 49 seconds left to play in the game.

Pellicano is new to the program after transferring in from Division III Dickinson College. He saved over 70 percent of his shots faced and played the entire duration as the starter.

Mercyhurst will be on the road this weekend against Roberts Wesleyan College with a 1 p.m. ET start from Rochester, NY.
