The preseason favorite Panthers put runs on the board often and in a hurry in a four-game slate against Findlay and scored over 60 times to bring out the brooms against the Oilers in conference play.
Weather conditions delayed the series to a Sunday-Monday setup, but that was about the only thing that could attempt to derail Kentucky Wesleyan’s offense as Wilcoxson was one of the stars for the Panthers, who are still undefeated in conference play at 12-0.
The senior shortstop also vaulted into the short list of batting leaders around the Great Midwest, pushing his season line up to .415 to tie for fourth in the conference.
He had 13 hits, 11 RBI and scored 10 runs, while batting over .600 (13-for-21) in a highly productive week that also included a game against Southern Indiana.
Wilcoxson recorded at least two hits in all five of those contests and three hits in three different games. He doubled twice and tripled to give him seven extra-base hits in the season to date. The Kentucky Wesleyan offense manufactured 18+ runs in three of the four games against Findlay.
Through 19 games this spring, Wilcoxson’s slash line is up to .415/.554/.519. The Panthers also improved their overall record to 15-4 and lead all teams in the conference in hitting with a .328 average.
