Makin cleared a provisional-qualifying height, also at the Youngstown State Invitational, to finish runner-up in the pole vault. The Bluffton transfer redshirted last season.
Makin cleared 4.83m (15’10”) on his fifth attempt on Friday. He was runner-up in the event only behind a host YSU competitor.
Early in the 2020-21 indoor campaign, the Oilers senior is ranked tied for fifth in Division II in pole vault clearances.
This is Makin’s first Great Midwest weekly honor for the indoor track and field season.
