After falling to Walsh twice, Glenville State went on to win three of four the rest of the weekend, making Gockenbach’s dominance in a small sample size more that much more notable.
Gockenbach recorded 10 strikeouts in just 4.1 innings pitched in game two of Friday’s doubleheader for her first win of the spring.
The sophomore entered in relief of starter Alison Harper and faced 15 Glenville State batters in a scoreless and no-hit outing.
Gockenbach struck out five consecutive hitters, including the side in order in the fourth inning.
After GSC had runners on the corners with one out in the sixth inning, Gockenbach fanned the next two hitters swinging to get out of the jam.
