This is the second conference weekly honor for Maughmer as the Yellow Jackets won at home vs. Malone and on the road in overtime at Lake Erie.
Cedarville handed the Storm their first home loss of the season and did it by overcoming a 20-point second half deficit. The Yellow Jackets wouldn’t have made it past regulation if it weren’t for the late heroics of Maughmer, who drained a three at the buzzer that tied the score 85-85.
On the week, the sophomore guard averaged 22.5 points per game he shot an even 50 percent from the field.
He also had four assists, 2.5 steals and 2.5 rebounds, per-game averages as Cedarville improved to 16-8 overall, 11-3 in the league and is currently fourth in the point rating system.
Maughmer had a team high 26 points in 34 minutes vs. Lake Erie on Saturday. He was 9-of-16 on all field goal attempts and handed out seven assists.
Against another potential postseason-bound program in Malone, Maughmer paced his team in the scoring column again, this time with 19 points. He had four rebounds, a pair of assists and four steals.
The Yellow Jackets are balanced – producing five different players this year in double figure scoring led by Maughmer’s 15.2 points per game. He’s also accurate from deep by making 41 percent of his tries from three-point territory.
