Tunney was the season’s first athlete of the week and as a rookie, added her second weekly award of 2019-20 to her freshman resume for the Chargers as they competed against Ohio Northern and Case Western.
Tunney won a pair of individual events and finished runner-up in two other races as Hillsdale continues to gear up for the G-MAC/MEC Championships.
Tunney touched the wall first in the 1,000 freestyle with a time of 10:36.74, which ranks seventh in combined conference history.
Tunney also puts her 1,000 freestyle times right into elite company with Fairmont State’s Courtney Deem, the G-MAC/MEC Women’s Swimmer of the Meet for the past two seasons.
She also has two of the league’s best times already in the 200 backstroke. Tunney won the event with a time of 2:06.97 and also contributed to a second-place performance in the 200 freestyle relay.
