Already a USBWA National Player of the Week this season, Varence continued to shine in his senior campaign with his second weekly nod as the top conference standout.
The Panthers carved out a signature win against Hillsdale, effectively handing the Chargers their first loss in the conference schedule.
In the process, ODU moved up three spots during the week in the conference point rating system to be planted in the top half of the standings. The Panthers have won three straight including an OT win vs. Alderson Broaddus and a big road victory at Cedarville.
Varence scored a game-high 23 points against Hillsdale on 10-of-17 shooting from the field. He grabbed seven rebounds and his effort was rounded out with three assists and three steals.
Varence is currently second in the conference in scoring (18.3 ppg) and is third in rebounding (9.1 rpg).
The two-time All-Great Midwest team selection has now been conference player of the week six times in his career since ODU’s first year with the league in 2017-18.
