The Chargers keep testing themselves against the nation’s best, regardless of Division I, II or III, classification.
That trend certainly continued at the Notre Dame-hosted Joe Piane Invitational, where Humes shined in the men’s 5 mile race.
The senior was the runner-up in the Gold Division, averaging 4:50.9 per mile to clock a total time of 24:14.40.
All told, the 2018 NCAA All-American finished ahead of 158 Division I runners in the field of 160. He was just a shade over one second off the winning pace by UTEP’s Titus Cheruiyot and beat individuals from LSU, Kansas State, Clemson, Auburn and many more.
Humes helped Hillsdale finished 13th as a team in the Division I heavy team scoring as the Chargers averaged 25:25 among their point scorers.
