Malone’s NCAA individual qualifier Williams has earned her second career athlete of the week award after winning the Cumberland Trail Golf Classic hosted by Ohio Dominican.
Williams put together two impressive rounds of 71 (-1) and 68 (-4) to grab the individual medalist trophy. She won the event by three shots and finished at 5-under par. She was one of only two players who were under par for the tournament.
Williams is now third in the conference in scoring average through the fall season and helped lead Malone to a fifth-place finish overall.
This is the junior’s best finish on the season and the 68 (-4) is her low round of the fall. Williams previous best finish was a runner-up showing at the Great Midwest Fall Preview in Owensboro last week.
The Pioneers have some time off before returning to action on Oct. 7, when they will travel to Findlay to take part in the William Beall Fall Classic.
