John, another talented student-athlete from the league with German heritage, picked up 2 clean sheets over the weekend for the Storm as Lake Erie went on to defeat regional opponents Ashland and Slippery Rock.
During those 2 clean sheets, John had 7 saves and was important in Lake Erie’s 1-0 double OT win against reigning GLIAC champion Eagles. LEC won on a great golden goal off the foot of all-conference forward Javier Borreguero.
John also had help from his defense as only 12 shots were taken in the 2 games but 7 of those were on target and saved by the keeper.
John and the Storm will take on conference opponent Malone next as the defense looks to remain unscored on. Cedarville, picked higher than LEC in the preseason coaches poll, also played Slippery Rock to a draw this week.
In 2018, John was the starting keeper for the Storm while logging over 1,500 minutes in net while being credited with seven wins and four shutouts.
