Laming, a transfer from Ashland, helped Ohio Dominican triumph over Super Region 1 opponent Shepherd on Saturday in a 24-21 Week 1 victory.

Both the Panthers and the Rams were receiving votes in the AFCA Coaches Preseason Poll.

Laming was perfect on field goals and extra points as he made a 33-yard FG right before halftime to cut the deficit to 14-3. Laming also made his lone extra point tried in the third quarter following a 77-yard touchdown pass.

Laming also impacted the kickoff game with his booming leg as Shepherd returned 3 of his 5 kickoffs for a total of just 20 yards while the other two kickoffs were sent deep touchbacks.

He also averaged over 62 yards per boot, tops in the league among all kickoff specialists.

Ohio Dominican travels to the No. 1 team in the country next week in Valdosta State for a matchup that will be part of the DII National Showcase. The Blazers are defending national champions and led by former Tiffin head coach Gary Goff.
