Herzog continues the lineage of hard-hitting Charger DB's in the mold of former defensive back of the year Wyatt Batdorff and Drake Temple, giving Hillsdale a more than formidable secondary.

The sophomore flew all over the field on Saturday against Michigan Tech as he tallied 20 tackles in the team's effort.

Herzog's 20 tackles matches the Great Midwest conference single game record and of those 20 tackles, 10 were solo and 10 were assisted. Malone linebacker Ryan Weber was also credited with 20 stops against Missouri S&T in 2017.

The Chargers defense may have been under pressure on Saturday, but the unit still forced two interceptions and one fumble while being on the field for almost 70 percent of the game.

Herzog had eight more tackles than anyone else on the team. HC will go into Week 2 game next week at No. 16-ranked UIndy.
