Stephens has been the catalyst for the Oilers defensive attack, which leads the league in caused turnovers per game at 10.65. 
 
Stephens, who was also a first team all-conference pick, has recorded 49 ground balls and caused 23 turnovers for the Oilers in 2019.
 
Stephens had a tough task at hand to be Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Year Elle Hamilton’s personal shadow in the championship game against Tiffin. 
 
In the title game, Stephens caused three turnovers and collected a pair of ground balls. 
 
In the 18-7 semifinal victory vs. Walsh, Stephens also picked up two ground balls as the Oilers limited the Walsh offense to just 20 shots overall.
