Lehotay provisionally qualified for nationals in the 1,500-meter race and came dangerously close to matching the 2018 national championship time held by her former teammate Sarah Berger.

Lehotay did that at the Raleigh Relays over the weekend, clocking a 4:23.16 and finishing 14th in a race stacked with Division I runners.

The junior beat out runners from Harvard, Duke, Princeton and Notre Dame, among many others for the impressive showing. She also ran in the 4x800 relay, and the Cavaliers clocked the third-fastest time in Great Midwest history with a 9:07.93.

The grouping of Bre Bakan, Megan Soehnlen, Alexa Leppelmeier and Lehotay, finished sixth overall in the relay race.

Lehotay’s time currently ranks second in Division II and sixth all-time in conference history. Between cross country and track and field, she has now won conference athlete of the week honors four times in less than a two-year span.
