Townsend made her season debut at the Vanderbilt Black & Gold Invitational in Nashville, where she made a strong impression in the 400-meter hurdles.
Going up against all DI runners from Kentucky, Michigan, Butler and Tennessee State, the sophomore finished seventh in the event with a time of 1:03.32.
Breaking down her time further, Townsend clocked the fifth-best mark in conference history only behind teammate Carmen Botha.
Townsend competed in three different events at the conference indoor championships.
