The high jump was the lone conference record on the women’s side that crumbled in the first week of the season courtesy of Gwinner at the Tiffin Alumni Open.
On her eighth try (of nine attempts), Gwinner cleared bar height at 1.73m (5’8”) in her collegiate debut to win the event with 21 other individuals in the field.
The Dragons’ rookie clipped a record that has been held for almost two years by Malone’s two-time conference champion Olga Branney. Gwinner also ranks third in all of Division II early in the 2018-19 season.
Gwinner also competed in the long jump with a best attempt of 4.94m (16’ 2.5”).
