The Chargers senior captain placed inside the top eight at the inaugural Great Midwest/Mountain East Championships and is aiming to return to the NCAA meet for the third time in her career.
Ellingson became just the second Great Midwest swimmer to hit a “B” standard this year, joining Findlay freshman Kendra Polewski in elite company.
Ellingson hit the mark at the University of Chicago-hosted Phoenix Fall Classic with 11 teams swimming during one of HC’s largest meets of the year.
Ellingson’s signature event is the breaststroke and she won with a time of 1:04.10, tops in the conference this season and 12th-best time in the nation according toe the USA Swimming report.
Ellingson also was runner-up in the 200-meter distance of the breaststroke with a time of 2:22.13.
