In either the men or women’s competition, Polewski is the lone swimmer from the Great Midwest to hit an NCAA qualifying standard at this stage of the season.
And to do it as a first-year student-athlete makes her accomplishments this early that much more impressive.
The nationally-ranked Oilers competed against UIndy and Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, on Friday.
Polewski won the 200-yard freestyle event with a time 1:52.36, eclipsing the NCAA “B” standard of 1:53.55 and is currently ranked third across Division II. Both swimmers ahead of her are from UCSD (California San Diego).
The rookie is also ranked 11th nationally in the 500 freestyle and less than a second away from breaking into the top 10.
She is very close to reaching the “B” standard after winning the event over UIndy and DI Toledo competitors with a time of 5:07.14
