Berger is the first of two Cavaliers to take home honors this week after an impressive run at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California, an event loaded with NCAA Division I competition and sponsored athletes.
Distance events have been Berger’s bread and butter throughout her career as she finished second at the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship this past fall and was an NCAA Indoor Track & Field All-American in both the mile (third) and DMR (second).
She also set the Great Midwest outdoor 5K record and has earned athlete of the week honors multiple times in 2017-18 for her accomplishments.
This past weekend at the Bryan Clay Invitational, she ran an automatic qualifying mark in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:06.10.
The current DII leader in the 1,500-meter run now ranks third in in the 3K steeplechase as well and is on her way to cementing her place as one of the most accomplished runners in conference history.
