After hitting .457 last spring, the junior NCAA All-American and former G-MAC Freshman of the Year Daunhauer is writing more conference history in her third season at the college level.
She is well on her way to hitting over .400 for the third consecutive year.
This week was no different for the conference league leader in hits as the junior went 13-for-29, which comes out to a .448 weekly average in eight games. She hit leadoff in each of those contests and had eight stolen bases, with least one in each of the last six games.
In her last four contests, which were conference games against Davis & Elkins and Alderson Broaddus, Daunhauer went 10-for-16 with three runs batted in and six runs scored and led the Panthers to wins in three of those four contests.
Six of her eight stolen bases came in those games and all four were on the road in West Virginia. Kentucky Wesleyan was the preseason coaches poll favorite and the Panthers are looking to defend their conference tournament title.
Daunhauer is the conference’s all-time leading batting champion with an average of .431 in 540 at-bats. She also leads all players in conference history in both hits (233) and stolen bases (111). The speedy junior is also second all-time in runs scored with 128 in less than three seasons.
