Hnidy made noteworthy contributions for the Storm as Lake Erie toppled Mercy in overtime

Not only was it a marquee win against a nationally-ranked program, but supports LEC’s cause to move into the North Region rankings with Mercy sitting at No. 6 last week.

Lake Erie improved to 10-2 overall and is currently 6-1 in the conference standings, closing in on the No. 2 seed for the Great Midwest Championship bracket.

In Dobbs Ferry, N.Y., Hnidy and the Storm went on the road for the win as the senior defender produced six ground balls and caused five opponent turnovers.

Hnidy and LEC’s defensive unit helped give Lake Erie a 6-3 at halftime. The Storm went into overtime before scoring the game winner in the 62nd minute.

Hnidy has started and played in all 11 games with almost 700 minutes logged on the field this spring for the Storm, whose only defeats were against then-No. 1 Merrimack and No. 4 Seton Hill.
