For the second time this season, Tooley takes home the men’s honor after a solid week from the sophomore that included a runner-up and a 13th-place finish in less-than-ideal conditions.
He also was named Great Midwest Athlete of the Week distinction back in October and anchors a much-improved lineup for the Panthers.
Tooley started out the week at the KWC Panther Invitational where he took a tie for second out of 57 three-round competitors.
He started off with a 75, then shot an even-par 72 in the second round, followed by another 75 (+3) to finish. He helped lead the Panthers to a second-place team finish at their home invitational.
Tooley followed that up at the UIS Spring Invitational where he again displayed a strong effort with a tie for 13th out of 52 two-round players. He followed a first round 78 with a 74 in cold and windy conditions for another near top-10 finish.
Tooley leads the team and ranks 10th in the conference in scoring average among players with at least 10 rounds played at 74.88. The second-year student-athlete has four top-10 finishes in 10 events.
