Scerbo’s progression from G-MAC Freshman of the Year to potential defensive player of the year and even NCAA All-American candidate has blossomed full circle with his third defensive conference weekly honor.

The talented second-year student-athlete has been putting up ground ball numbers at a single-season conference record pace and is a big reason why the Griffins lead the league in face-off percentage.

Scerbo won 27-of-34 faceoff attempts against Lake Erie and added 17 ground balls. He also added a goal in the first quarter for good measure.

He also won 17-of-21 to control the faceoffs matchup against D&E while contributing nine more ground balls and his second goal of the week. Scerbo was on the field for all possible 120 minutes in the two games combined.

Scerbo remains the Great Midwest league leader in two key statistical categories – ground balls (10.73 per game) and faceoff percentage (.710). His versatility as a defenseman and specialist is a big reason why SHU has assembled a near-perfect regular-season campaign so far.
