Mirkovic has also been tasked with facing the oppositions toughest opponent on paper in No. 1 singles as the preseason coaches poll favorite Chargers currently stand at 6-6.
Hillsdale started the conference schedule with a pair of victories against Walsh and against Davis & Elkins, both on the road.
Mirkovic had to go into a third-set tiebreaker against Walsh’s top performer, Vasily Vidmanov, for an intriguing 6-4, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) win. He manned No. 3 doubles for Hillsdale with Julien Clouette as they worked for an 8-2 win.
Against Davis & Elkins, Mirkovic had similar results. He took down D&E’s former athlete of the week Obert Matthew Mulyadi in straight sets before combining with Clouette for an 8-0 shutout in doubles.
