Paige Rowan has been named the Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week, following a more impressive week than she turned in during week one of the season. After a week in which she led the team to a big road win, scoring two goals in a 2-1 win, she scored twice, including the game-winner, and assisted on another in a 3-2 win over West Liberty.
In the team’s only game of the week, the Arrows trailed 2-0 through the first 67 minutes of the game, when Rowan netted her first goal of the game in the 68th minute. Then with under 15 minutes left, she assisted on a goal by Vanessa Consiglio to tie the game. Five minutes later, Rowan put away the game-winner and sealed the 3-2 come from behind win.
The multi-goal game marked the sixth time Rowan has scored more than one goal in a match, second time this season in just three games. She scored twice last week against Charleston, and twice last year against West Liberty, and accomplished the feat three times as a freshman in 2011.
Through two matches, Rowan leads her club in goals, points, and shots. Rowan is in a three-way tie for the league lead in goals and second in points in the conference.
