For the second week in a row, a backstop from the North Division has wielded a mighty bat for player of the week honors. In the mold of teammates Justin Childers and Joey Machuga, another ODU offensive player was chosen for his effort at the dish.

In five games, Kaucher hit .429 while going 6-for-14 at the plate. He had six RBI, scored four times, walked five times and recorded a pair of extra-base hits with a triple and double.

He started at catcher in three games and served as the Panthers’ designated hitter in both game two’s of each doubleheader.

Kaucher was 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs and a triple against Wayne State in the second contest of the three-game slate. He followed that up with a three-hit day on Sunday with a double and two more RBI.

Kaucher is now hitting .433 while starting all 10 games possible in the ODU lineup. He has 13 hits in 30 at-bats with 12 RBI and 10 runs scored. His on-base percentage is a very healthy .538.
