Paige Rowan has been named the season’s first Women’s Soccer Athlete of the Week, following a 1-1 week for her Ursuline College Arrows team. She led the team to its win over University of Charleston, scoring both goals in a 2-1 road win.
Rowan put Ursuline ahead 1-0 in the middle of the second half, just minutes before the Golden Eagles tied the match at 1-1. With time running out in regulation, she converted on a penalty kick in the 84th minute to decide the outcome.
Thursday's multi-goal game marked the fifth time Rowan has scored more than one goal in a match. She scored twice last year against West Liberty and accomplished the feat three times as a freshman in 2011.
Through two matches, Rowan leads her club in goals, points, and shots. Rowan is in a three-way tie for the league lead in goals and second in points in the conference.
